What are you looking for Lew?
Near as I can tell, the spec #'s started at 2801. The piston part numbers sub to the new number for the larger bore if you use 2801 as the spec #. Does that help? |

Jonathan,
Spec # is 281033h.This was in a 70 but it has 4 holes threaded in the block on the pto end ,so I am thinking it is not a cub block, but it was fine in the 70.PTO and the crank dia were the same. This was already bored out .030 I thought the early blocks were able to be bored to the newer 2 15/16 bore which is STD.Seems like a lot of meat left to bore it larger

Near as I can tell by the parts book, the old motors can be bored to the 2 15/16", then over-sized to .030" All old piston part numbers sub to the new "standard" sizes and are available to .030" oversized. No notes saying that they can't be......

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
