Greetings everyone. I'm Chris from Williams Twsp, Northampton Co, PA. I bought a 104 back in the fall of 2004 to mow the lawn until I could afford a new machine. I cut with it for 2 years ,then 1 day it stopped running just after I cut the lawn. Cooled down ,started right up,got hot, stopped running again. Didn't have time to mess with it so I parked it . ( 5 1/2 years ago ) In the interim the wife bought another brand riding mower. I never was happy with it so 6 months ago I uncovered the 104. Needless to say I'm now hooked on the yellow and white Cub Cadets. It was overheating because the fins near the exhaust valve were packed with grass and dirt. Come to find out I have a 1996 replacement K301, in great condition. So I wonder , do I have a 124 now? Great site, I've learned alot. Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
