Smile Canadian from BC, just got ahold of a Cub 129

hi folks, boy is it heavy- stuffed it into the back of my old astro van , paid 180$ with deck n plow
been tightening loose connections and trying to start it- got a new 300 amp battery - it just turned over once and all it will do is click now
owner said brake down, an disconnect mower clutch rod with cltch lvr on rt pulled back then jump to gen positive and engine neg with key - gonna try that today
it has been neglected - loose muffler, loose gen connect, loose ground , sloppy steering , missing pins, looe plug, rotted seat I changed
Got to get it going as the grass is foot high here and my recent old snapper is dangerous on rough slope
I am in Nelson area for other bc'ers round- a cub owner in Creston I see so maybe can connect and kick tires
so long for now
yf

hey thanks guys- got a new plug the wife picked up - maybe thats the problem- wants to fire and I can now get it to turn over wiith clutch rod disconnected
Its been neglected-hasnt seen oil or grease for a long time- tightened up the axle slack n steering last night n lubed
the deck wheels were wobbly- made some copper bushings on them n lubed
got a weeping tire to fix at the bead- goop should do it
tightened up loose ground and got new battery 300 amp
gt an old snapper $90 running here but we are on a sidehill rough ground and its just too dangeous
and my beat crapsman [ good motor] is still waiting for me to hook up the repaired spindle deck and figure out how to engage cutting belt - my jury rigged cable is not working so a lever maybe
The cub sure is meaty - just what we need. My craftsamn has bent frame and rusted through in places besides much wear n tear
Have to put all on hold for a while to get my firewood- big free tree at neighbours been down for a while so bucking today and figure out how t get 4 ft rounds in the van
so long for now

Default close neighbors

It is good to find company in close areas! I come up to Balfour often, so pm me and we'll get together. I plan to pick my 102 up this Fri. maybe I'll pop it in my truck and zip over soon.

Dinkytoy47, from Evansburg, if I remember correct! If I make it up to visit my relatives, maybe we can connect and swap ideas. Forgot your name tho.

really nice, Jim that you already got a plow with it, and deck, both of which I need to acquire! I'm happy for you.

I have a 'newer Cadet' dealer here in Creston that is willing to get me on the right path with my parts needs. Denny. nice guy! Manfred

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
