Was mowing today and noticed my Amp gauge down in the discharge.
After I finished mowing , I checked the battery voltage . I am only getting 12.3 v both WOT and about the same with engine off. ( I think it is seeing my battery voltage ) I checked the ac terminals on my regulator and getting something like 37 vac on WOT and only 12.3 volts on the DC pin of the regulator. I have checked my ground and also my connections to the regulator . I have a sneaky suspicion that my regulator is not up to snuff but was wondering if anyone knew of an automotive cross for the regulator. Everything I am finding applies to the old square box style regulators . My google searches are not yielding any results and i have tried numerous searches here but not getting the info that I need. I do not feel like waiting a week for a web order as I want it fixed yesterday . Not to mention 70-80 bucks makes my sphincter wanna make a diamond out of some coal.

I have exactly the same problem with my 1250. Does anyone know how to test the regulator?

As found in our Technical Library........... V/R
I have never found a aftermarket substitute. You can obtain this V/R from your local Cub Cadet or Kohler dealer(s). If that is not possible, then our fine sponsors would be more than willing to send you one. One thing to check on the Q/L's. There is a "firewall" electrical connector. The charge wire connects into this connector. You may have a bad or high resistance connection in the connector (Male or female portion). Don't ask how I know this.... ![]() PS: OEM Part: 41-403-09-----------> 25-755-03-S Can Use: Stens: 435-081

I did check my connector. I'm going to do one more test tomorrow to double check my output. I know my stator is good with the AC to the regulator on the terminals with regulator unplugged. To eliminate my theory of the 12.3 v seen at the DC pin , once started , I'm going to disconnect the battery and see if I still have my voltage. If I do , then I know the voltage I am seeing is indeed output from the reg , if it goes away , then I know i am definitely seeing my battery voltage. Now when I tested the R across the coils . I came up with .2 ohms , which is a bit more than the chart suggests, but I know I am putting out AC , and will try the new regulator before I rip the engine off to install new stator. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
