Rebuilt my barb and went to install it and realized I had lost my e-clip that secure the carb throttle rod to the governor arm. So I went out and bought a few in each of the sizes I could find at the hardware store that seemed in the right range :
1/4 clip - too big 1/8 clip - too small 3/16 clip - Close but still too big and falls off easily and too thick for groove too! What size is that clip? I could have sworn it measured 3/16 but a 3/16 definitely does not fit. I guess maybe it could still be a 3/16 if the cheap chinese clips are out of tolerance . Thanks in advance! NCDiesel |

I hate those E clips, I cut a small piece of 1/8" fuel line and slip it over the end of the throttle rod behind the governor arm.

It's 5/32", which is between 1/8" and 3/16".

Thanks! Of course, that is the size NOT available anywhere locally. Everyone seems to go 1/8 - 3/16 - 1/4 The fuel line is a good idea, though I was using a zip-tie to hold it but decided I was done with half-measure solutions. I thought buying one would be easy. That is what I get for thinking (-:
I guess I'll order online. Thanks again, NCDiesel |

Try going to a place that has lawn tractors. Sell or repair shops. Buy it for the engine not the tractor.
any 10 or 12hp they used the same for the yr and hp. as long as it's the same make. It's a good idea to take the S N for the engine. That's how I find engine parts I need. |

same thing happened to me. I started rootin' around my junk drawer and came across several carb linkage clips from an auto carb rebuild kit and I had 1 that fit perfect. Way better than the oe clip.Don't have a camera, I know a photo would explain it much better , but I'll try. The clip has 2 holes in 1 end. It goes over the end of the governor arm, then the L -bend from the carb goes thru the 2 holes, then swivels down and snaps onto the linkage to carb. Hope this helps.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
