I am thinking of putting a hydraulic lift on the 125 this winter to make garden tilling a little easier on my back. I searched, but havent come up with much information on these units. What should I expect to pay for one in decent shape? What is needed besides the pump and cylinder? I see there is a special bracket that needs to be attached to the deck lift mechanism. Is that something that can be found easily?
Thanks, Steve |

ouch. Well, I can fabricate the rock shaft and other parts if they are hard to come by, I may just try to fab one, as I know I can source the parts for less than a couple hundred, except for the pump. Thanks for the info.

I bought my hydraulic lift unit this past summer for my 123. Didn't know that the "new lift arm" on the rock shaft was so hard to come by. I posted on this site under Wanted Items for over a month, but didn't get any bites. Finally, I found a NOS part that was already welded to the rock shaft, but it cost me an additional $90 to acquire. As stated earlier, it is cheaper to just find one on an old tractor.....that prevents the scavenger hunt that I have had to go through for those elusive parts. Lots of luck on your hydraulic lift!!

Have you thought about an electric lift? I think the cost is less prohibitive, and it doesn't require a ton of modifications...
Hopefully someone who has one can chime in on the electric lift vs hydraulic I have a spring assist on my 127, and it makes a huge difference while lifting my QA42A snowthrower...just another idea for you. ( I still love the hydraulic lift on my 1211 though!) Jeff (teet) |

I looked high and low for a Hydraulic pump and ended up buying the complete unit from Ihccw for 444.00 (this included shipping). Just had to bolt it on. It included everything except the bolts. It took me all of 15 min to get it up and running. I would not give it up for anything it lifts a plow and blower like its a feather.

Making the parts for the rockshaft looks easy enough, as I have access to a bridgeport mill and lathe. I just need some way to make the tiller easier to lift. I have the spring assist, but the real issue is that the implement lift handle bends so much lifting the tiller that it wont engage in the highest position, leaving me with reduced clearance if I have it set to till deep. If anyone has an electric lift, how do attach it to the tractor? In the same way as the hydraulic lift cylinder attaches? I see those can be had from northern tool for a couple hundred. Thanks again for all the good info.

If you don't care about factory-correctness, get a car PS pump, a valve, and a cylinder and make your own hydraulic lift.

Minncub,
I have a NOS bracket that is welded to the frame for the electric lift. If you are interested in it then just pm me. Cub Cadet 123 |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
