Default Junk yard score
Went to a Junk Yard today and scored this Off a 125 the cylinder is rusted so i am not sure what to do about that. The 3PT lift i have had.

Thanks i feel this will make a good addition to the 147. Also i realized this belongs in the implement and attachment forum so if a mod could please move this for me i would appreciate it.

Thanks i almost had to disassemble the entire rear end to get rocker shaft since i couldn't get the foot rest off. My 1/2" snap on electric paid for it's self today.

Extend the ram/rod on the cylinder and rip a narrow piece,-(1/2-3/4") of fine emery cloth off a sheet and polish only in the rusted area where it goes in the seal, taking care to go around the shaft, not length wise.
No need to polish the unrusted portion of the rod as they are either chrome or a fine ground finish
Do not wire brush in the seal area, as you don't want the pits in the shaft from rust to become craters to allow oil leakage. most of the time it will work with little seepage.
BTDT.
Farther out on the rod it's ok to clean as you want,and paint to stop further rusting, being careful not to paint where it goes into the seal.
@ this point it is what it is, and just might work good for you.
I've saved a few plow cylinders that way.

All of the chrome is gone from that rod...that cannot be saved. A good hydraulic cylinder shop can probably make you a new rod, but it will probably cost $100+

I knew the lift cylinder was shot when i bought it but i have less than 100 between the 3PT lift and the hydraulic set up. I am either going to find a used cylinder or machine a new rod and then have it chromed.
