Default Johnny Bucket Sr. on a 3185

So I am considering the johnny bucket sr. for my 3185.

I emailed johnnybucket and asked about the hydro line I needed. He commented that there should be one on there. I dug around and haven't found a spare set or see an extra lever that I assume would be required to run the bucket lift?

What is needed for the johnnybucket sr on a 3185? Is it where I need to add the #415 (190-415-100) - Hydraulic Valve Kit?

I have a feeling that is an expensive kit, if even available. When I tally up the parts it comes to $610.

Other thoughts or ideas on how get to a place where I could install a johnny bucket sr?

Thanks all

Sean

dont the johhnys come with electric actuators? my dad has a 3185 with 2 handles on left fender one raises the mower deck and the other has couplers mounted rite in front of left foot while sitting on machine they would hook to the snow plow lift cylinder when installed. he has a 3 point that we haven installed yet but that adds another handle on the left fender to fill last slot. im sure with alot of scrounging you could come up with handles and valves to make it work cause your tractor has provisions for three valves. i would bet the johnny uses 2 valves. but im gonna guess it might be cheaper to run electric unless you can find a well optioned tractor thats broken cheap. heck some of the sponsors might have stuff also

The johnny bucket sr uses a hydro for the lift and electric for the dump.

The 3185 only has one lever for the deck lift.

I can get my hands on some second hand stuff for you for free if you need some hydraulic valves. He has a lot and he said I can get what ever I would need. Its not cub stuff, just general valves, but you could fab them to work.

Thanks Justin. I am thinking that may be the best road but not sure how much time I can dedicate to this project.

Question....Is there a list of vendors on this site that might carry something like the hydro kit?

190-415-100 hydraulic kit

Thanks

Sean

Someone else will know that for sure. But if you can't find anything or if its too expensive then just shoot me a pm of what you need.

I mounted the Sears version of the Johnny Bucket on my 1811 and I used the hydro for the lift and an electro for the dump. It isn't God's answer to a FEL but it does do sand and firewood just fine. You probably can't see where the hydro arm connects to the bucket but there is a stubby post that tilts the bucket back and up and that's where the hydro arm rod attaches. In the pic below the bucket is in the up position. It only comes up about 12 inches. I wouldn't have bought it but it was at a closing Sears and I got the bucket for $250 and it came with two real long mechanical driver operated arms.

Thanks for sharing the pics sounds like you got a great deal. I am trying to track down a blade and aux hydros and the front bracket but worried Im going to spend over 1k in the process. At that point I am probably better to do the johnny bucket jr and/or blade.

So the other thing I have been thinking about is the risk of messing up my hydro by adding a jb hydro lift to it. It seems like adding an electric lift for the jb is ?maybe? safer since if I kill the actuator it wouldn't have any impact to the tractor since it isn't connected to the hydro? Is that a real concern or no concern?

Thanks

Sean

I don't think you can mess up your hydro. Hydraulics are pretty forgiving unless you do something real dumb. I bought my actuator from the Johnny Bucket website and it came with the switch. The hydro/mechanical arm was just simple geometry and both ends have holes to adjust the lift and strength of the arm. A hydro ram on the front connected to the hydraulic system would be neater but a lot more trouble that what I did plus I know it would cost more.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
