Default checking an hour meter
Got this hour meter off the 125 and nor sure if it works or not because I haven't used the tractor yet.
I've got it out and was wondering if there is anyway to check it to see if it works?
Being there is a positive and neg. could I just hook it to a charger and see if it moves? In theory that's how they work when the power is put to them, right?

That or a battery should let you know if it works. You will need to sit and keep an eye on it for a couple hours. A cocktail will help pass the time.

Use a battery, not sure how a half wave rectifier in the charger will affect it.
they don't draw much, so no problem there.
hook it up, note time, come back in the morning and compare.

Well I had it on the charger, (didn't check site since last night) this morning for three hours and nothing moved. Sooo, you think it's shot, or give the battery thing a try?
DWayne, the PO put mine in the hole then drilled holes around it and attached with screws and washers on the side. Pretty tacky!

Try the battery. 40 years ago, I tried to use a battery charger as a power supply to run a timer in a autocross. Didn't work at all. Used a battery and the timer worked OK. Hour meter may be the same.
