MTD blew it, like that is something new.

That is why a bunch of us die hard Cub owners also own Kubota for the larger stuff. If Cub had a competitive SCUT to the BX I would have one.

when we buy those the dealers scrape the serial numbers off so they can never be traced back to the dealer they were to be scrapped by the dealer and the only way that it was ok for me to get them was I was a salvage guy but man did those thing ever blow up and cost tons to fix

Just curious.... Why Kubota? I prefer the New Holland tractors myself. When I worked at IH we also sold New Holland (at the first dealership) and Kubota (at the second one I worked for). So I have worked on both, and ran both. At that time (2000-2002) the New Hollands had WAY more hydraulic power, and, Kubota only offered one rear remote (plus 2 for the loader) whereas the New Holland offered 3 rear (plus 2 for the loader)....... Just asking

Speaking personally. I had a new Ford compact 4x4, but don't remember the number, but it was built two years before they became New Holland. It was around 32 hp, good little tractor, I had no hydraulic remotes other than the loader.
I traded it in for a new LT 3400 Kubota with loader and remote hydraulic for my disc. Both tractors being close in overall size and hp the Kubota seems like a much better built tractor, and with what seems like much more PTO power than the Ford. With the bush hog on for example I can cut faster than I ever could with the Ford without the engine lugging for power. There's more room in the operators station on the Kubota, being comparable tractors. As far as the hydraulics, to me it seems the Kubota has more lifting power, but can't say for sure, it's been a long time sense I was on the Ford. One more thing is the operators controls are more user friendly on the Kubota as well.
Just my preference I guess, and isn't the 3400 made in the US, and New Holland Japan? Thought I read that someplace.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
