kohler kt-17 noisy ?
hey guys well if you followed my post about my cub cadet 682 you know what tractor im talking about but anyway I was driving it around and I showed my neighbor it and he said that these engine blow up a lot. Now I know that its a KT-17 series 1 opposed twin kohler, she runs great but does make some noise whether or not its engine or tractor im thinking its the engine more cause he said he could here a knock. is there anything that I can do that's easy before I would have to tear it apart and how much would it cost to redo it. Are the valves adjustable or what I haven't done much small engine work, also read that there not worth rebuilding and if that's the case id rather just get rid of the tractor but it almost seemed to not be so much noise with the muffler off im not sure let me know guys id hate to have it blow up on me. Also do they like to drink gas she seems pretty thirsty I don't know if they need to be at full throttle when mowing or not either. I appreciate any info

Since your engine is only about 33 years old it must not be that bad.
With the series one engine keep it full of oil and change it a little more often. When mowing always run the engine at full throttle Brian

Ok Brian thanks its a little low on oil I'll change it anyway and go from there fresh oil is always good
