Quick look at it though if it is original I would guess a 1541 or a 1861! Has the Kohler mag 18 plus I don't see a power steering cylinder and it has hydro lift.

Yep a 1541 or 1861 would be my guess. Now for the big question what's the deal before you jump in to the deep end.

Looks like a good one to leave right where it is.

I'm of no help on what model but I've gotten worse looking and had them running great with just a carb clean. But then I've had em just be scrap weight with everything locked up. If its free or next to free I say nab it

All im interested in is the tires, I could use a set of ag tires and I need at least one front tire. Plus if I buy the tires and he says take the whole thing, I'd be in for that

If it's cheap and if it runs could make a good yard beater.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
