Default Model 71 Carburetor

I am looking for help on the attached pictures. (Sorry they're sideways. They posted that way) This is the carburetor on a Model 71. I want to get a carb rebuild kit and am not sure which model of carb is here. Any thoughts on which would be appreciated!

Your carb is a Walbro.

Ed, I dont think you realize, but you posted under 'FOR SALE' items.

You will get 4 club lumps for that.

Look under forum & should have been Cub Engine's or General. No matter some mod will change it.

Nik.

Default WHG carb

I believe it is a WHG. Chances are it is embossed on the mounting flange. Fully adjustable too, that's a plus. Chris

Food for thought:...you could very easily get away with just a good cleaning and reasembly of the carb you hve....careful and slow will (can) save gaskets.
tiny small wire cleans any orifices...aire pressure and cleaner..BAM...zoom zoom

It's always a good idea to replace gaskets at the very least. It's not like a carb kit is expensive anyway. Besides, from the pics it's not like we can tell if the throttle shaft is worn. Maybe that is why he want to rebuild it.

Since Ed made his 1st. post, we hooked up & he's bringing his #71 over to my house on a Sat. He's got a trailer. My buddy who has rebuilt about 350 Kohler's, is gonna do the rebuild, with re-building the carb, head gasket, adjusting gov., arm, & a little tinkering with the electrical wires. We're gonna watch
Oh Ed is gonna do the sanding of the head, with a newly purchased file from Home Depot.

I'm the one that's gonna watch

NIK,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
