I just picked up this Jacobsen Turf King tonight, I have NO IDEA anything about it. I cannot find any information about it online, and the serial number doesnt make sense to me. Anyone who has any information on it, it would be appreciated!
Thanks Guys, I know its a shot in the dark, but I figured someone on here may know something. If nothing else, its a cool looking mower. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

LOL that is cool, i love med evil finger loosing lawn equipment.
Not cub related but here is my latest might buy unit, sort of IH related. it comes with a farmall B. I am researching it to see if i want to bother with it or not. It is so old Jacobson has no records of it, predates there record keeping. It is an ex military unit. from what i have been able to collect it is from 1945 to 1948. Worthing sold to Jacobson after the war and during the war Worthing could not keep up with the demand for them so they had Jacobson build them to fill orders. This is a grass airstrip mower. was running it in my back yard today, would load the video if i new how too. |

Thanks, yeah. I haven't figured out much information about it yet. I cant seem to find a year or anything to do with it. They are not popular machines.
When I get it mowing, I'll take a video.

Reminds me of my days as a greens keeper , but that mower i was a national bat-wing mower (3 reel) all mechanical or better said manual lift . When done cutting around the tee & greens you needed to stand in front of somebody with an air hose to remove 30 # of grass clippings! & it was fast as all get out whan the high speed belt was on!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
