Default Dual Stick 1450 with frozen hydraulic valves

My 1450 I just got that has the dual stick valves stuck/frozen. The two valves that are visible behind the dash. I have blasted them with penetrating oil and am waiting. I should be able to move them easily with the engine off? The forward/reverse was stuck also but I have it freed up. Haven't tried moving it yet.

Another question, how do you tighten up the petcock on the plastic tanks? It looks like it is a press fit with a fastener on the inside of the tank. I have a leak coming from between the petcock and the tank.

P.S. I have the 1450 running. Runs and idles great. No knocks or smoke.

Yes you should be able to move them easily with the engine off. You are probably going to have to remove the valve stack and lightly tap on the spools with a small hammer, or a rubber mallet. Soak them good and they should free up.

It is just a grommet. Nothing inside the tank. The shut-off valve just shoves through it. The grommet is still available. Its about $7

Removing the valve stack would require removing the dash wouldn't it? I dread having to try and remove the steering wheel...

I have been soaking them and can move them "around" a little but not up and down. I just don't know how delicate they are. Having the gas tank out I can see them easily and could get a persuader in there I guess.

I checked the fuel tank and found a pin hole leak in the bottom where the strap goes around. I think I can come up with something. The battery box is pretty well rusted up and the ground is bad at that location. I will find a better ground and make up a new battery box.

I had a dual control that stuck. Best I remember, I removed the tank and bumped the valve with a hammer and punch. Once it moved in one direction, it'd go in the other.

Tapped them this morning and like you said, would fix it. Another thing was the valve body wasn't bolted rigid allowing the linkage to bind. Bolted that sucker where it should be and the controls are working like velvet.

The forward/reverse shifter was stuck also. I have been working to free it up. As it is now it takes a good bit of pressure to move it forward and back but it does go both ways now.

Another problem is finding a good ground to ground the battery. How many places are grounds used between the engine/frame and battery frame? Two I guess. The one in the back is not working for me at all.
