Hi everyone, my name is Gentry, I'm from Augusta, GA, home of the Masters. I'm looking to buy a Cub Cadet. I'm not new to Cubs. I grew up cutting 2 acres on a 70's model Cub Cadet all I remember it had a 10hp Kohler standard trans and 44'' deck. I currently have a 50's model Farmall Cub my Dad restored about 10 years ago Its a nice tractor but I really want to find a Original 60's Cub Cadet. Any leads or info on one for sale in my area would be great. I'm trying to gather all the info I can so that I know what I want. I am many going to use it to cut grass and attend a few plow days in my area. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Gentry:

Welcome to our Forum......

In my mind, there are three areas to focus in on.

(A) Gear Drive or Hydro Drive
(B) Horse Power
(C) Narrow or Wide Frame tractor.

There are pros and cons to each series. So you will have to start narrowing it down to what you want and want out of it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
