Need an extra 1/2-13 LH nut?
![]() I think you're supposed to loosen the bracket, make the adjustment and tighten everything down. Is corrosion keeping the bolts from getting the adjustment plate tight? Is the cotter pin on the bottom of the 1/2-13 LH castle nut in place? |

Jeff, are you talking about the plate the gearbox is bolted to? You don't have to loosen anything up, just turn the adjustment knob. There is supposed to be a locking arm attached to the frame to hold the wing nut from moving. I don't even use the locking arm. Mine never moved.

The one I had had 4 bolts that you loosened then you make the adjustment and tighten them back down

I always loosen the bolts to tighten my belt, mainly because the bolts were loose when I got the blower. After reading on here that there are spacers and you don't need to loosen the bolts, I tried it this yr....it didn't work. It's due to the rusty plates and spacers. If you have a clean unit tightening the handle alone may work, if it's a bit rusty, try loosening the bolts first.

Rob, is there much adjustment on the bolt? When I owned that blower, I was going to shorten the belt, so there is more adjustment length.... so you can get it tight, not sure why it vibrates loose.
good luck man! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
