Why I Buy USA, per Yahoo!

For decades, I have made it a 99% rule of buying USA made products.

Most times I do without rather than buy non-USA.
Yea, there are exceptions, I do not live under a rock!!

This is not political, this is OUR economy!

This article says exporting used clothes to Africa is causing poverty in Africa by subduing textile manufacturing there.

So, how is that different than China exporting poverty to the USA by exporting EVERYTHING to the USA and subduing our manufacturing?

China is neo-colonizing the USA by controlling the USA debt. (I am just re-quoting the article)

I also try to buy "American" whenever possible. Sometimes that can be a tall order. Practically every product at Walmart is foreign made and about all of it is China made. I have heard that recently some us companies that moved their manufacturing to China are coming back home as the transportation costs excalate to a point that it offsets the cheap labor.

I hafta agree. In a sense we have created our own poor economy. Right down to the rising cost of crude oil, if China didn't need so much of it to get back and forth to and make the goods they send to us, crude would be cheaper for us.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "If there were no market for Chinese goods, there would be no Chinese goods."

What Sam said, I worry about the current/next generation of our country. People are getting more and more blind to what's going on. I'm not exactly a model citizen but if the government comes to my door to try and take my freedom/firearm, they're going to have to force that Chinese made firearm out of my hands

Seriously though, I know I'm still a youngin' and all but I wish the country was how it used to be, hard work and honesty rained supreme. You guys know what I'm talking about, the times before a guy could dump hot coffee on his lap then turn around and sue the place he got it from because it was hot. I remember (back in the day) when Wally-World used to promote 'Made in USA' products in their TV ads. You could always count on seeing the stars and stripes in the ads and in the stores. They don't do that anymore. I try to avoid Wal-Mart, but it's not always possible.

Has anyone noticed over the past several years that TSC has taken the same tack with their products? It is very frustrating that they (TSC) basically carry the same products (junk) as HF, but at an inflated price. Yet they continue to post record profits.

The worm may eventually turn on the crap that comes out of China. Until then, I guess we will just have to cling to our old Cubs and other vintage American iron to remind us of a time when quality actually mattered...

The new generation American consumer demands low price with little regard to quality or value. On the other hand, the American labor unions and workforce demand higher pay. We have backed corporate America into a corner. We can blame the Chinese, big business, the President, WalMart, the federal government, but I'm not naive enough to think we are not part of the problem.

I haven't opened my wallet at WalMart since 2006 and it hasn't impacted my life at all. I drive a Nissan pickup made by Americans in Mississippi. Should I have bought a Dodge from Mexico or a Ford from Canada instead? I don't know. I see the problem but don't have the answer.

I think the title is misleading a lil,mostly because Yahoo is an American made company established in California by american citizens.

I get what youre doing though with the slang,just thought id point out it may have been the wrong term in this post

Anyways,I remember my grandpa telling me how to recover from the depression and that was to buy american made products and stimulate the economy. Now lets just think about how our economy is in turn stimulated by foreign trade. In our society today we have trade to help our economy,but whats sad is we dont have enough companies here that truly stimulate just our own economy. So what do we do about this ?

The vast majority of people today just sit back an complain,but a select few will truly do something about this.So how do we go about getting our country truly back and run by Americans ?

Hi Steven, i can go to 2 or 3 places and buy that TSC stuff cheaper. As far as those record profits, there's a guy on tv that says those are the company stocks to buy, the one's that scre$ the consumer. Might be a good idea but i don't like it. Mike
