Default DIY sleeve hitch

Bought a new Brinly BS-381 Box blade for my LTX1045. MY son fabricated up a nice sleeve hitch that works great.

It needs a few tweeks but first run was a great success.

Looks good. Now adapt a linear actuator and get rid of the lever.

Now after you use the blade for a while, post back with the results. There are a lot of naysayers her who think a sleeve hitch on a lawn tractor is a big mistake. I for one, think that if you are CAREFUL and realize the strengths and weaknesses of the machine you will be just fine. I'm working on a similar project for a LT1050.

Hang that weight out the back like that on that LT and wait for something to break. Or take the hitch and put a furrow plow or cultivator out back and stick it in the ground and let me know how it holds up.
Disaster waiting to happen, bad for owner, good for dealer.

That's because the "naysayers" have seen a bunch of LT's fail with nothing but a mower deck.

Biggest issue here is, now the problem will be, "Well, now I've got this blade, and It won't pull it. I need weight!" and that's where the problem starts......

I suggest finding a GT. Just my

My neighbor purchased a 1045 a few years ago and all he does is mow. He's lucky to get a year out of a drive belt.

Be careful as the lawn mower wasn't designed for that type of work.

If I need to plow or till I would not use my lawn tractor. It just needs to move a few yards of sand around the pool beach area. Sure beats a shovel and a rake. But thanks for the concern I won't be the one asking why it broke or how to fix it. That sure is a fine hitch my boy built ain't it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
