Default H42 speed up pulley

I picked up an H42 Haban thrower that needs a drive pulley not knowing the correct size for sure, was thinking I could use a smaller pulley to up the RPM's and throw the snow better. could someone tell me what size the org. pully is

I don't have a H42 and only have knowledge of the original part number. BUT....IIRC seems that I read you could downsize to 3".

Keep in mind all of the H42 parts are NLA...I would not spin it faster and speed up the wear on everything. It should throw snow plenty far stock...do you have the chute coated with slip plate?

The thrower has to be kept full to throw snow the furthest. You will have to vary the groundspeed accordingly. When the thrower is full, the engine will be just tugging on the governor a bit.

IIRC, the OEM part was 3.5"

There must be some H42 or H48 owners out there that could measure one up...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
