Default 1863 vs 1864 Differences?
Any major/significant issues between the 1863 vs the 1864 tractors?

Looking at an 1863. Chores would be lots of mowing, towing a firewood and welder trailer around the yard, moldboard plowing and any other crazy chore one would do to maintain a camp.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

1863 has the Hydro gear trans, no power steering, the 1864 has the Sundstrand and power steering. Just my 2 cents but I like the Sundstrand better.

Thanks - good info. I found a brochure and they show the differences too.

Bad news is the tractor sold .

The other major difference is, the 1864 is hands down the best CC made for homeowner duties.

Wished I had a shed full of them.

Thats ok. U want an 1864 anyway. Power steering is the cats meow.

Yeah but that big boy mower deck won't fit in all the nooks and crannys in my yard. I do have a 2084 w 54" deck but I still don't like it as well as my 1864 w 54" deck. The SG doesn't turn as short is another difference.

For sure the Sunstrand is better as is the power steering.

The SG rides better because of the long wheelbase but I don't go that fast anyway as I don't want to foam my beer. I don't like the cleated tires either!

I wonder if someone had changed the hydros, because the Cub site only shows the Sundstrand in an 1864?
