Default New Toy......2182, and Hydrostat Question

I just acquired a 2182 this week. I knew there was a 2182 in the area, but had no idea who owned it. I happened to meet a friend when I was leaving the local McDonalds. I asked him if he knew anyone in his neighborhood who owned an older yellow and white Cub Cadet. He said that was him! Then he said he had just bought a zero turn and wanted to sell the 2182!
I had no idea what to expect when I went to look at the tractor. What I found amazed me. The 2182 had a 60" Haban deck, 100 pound wheel weights, 3 point hitch, rear PTO, and a 54" power angle blade. The owner also threw in another full set of Super tires and wheels. Can't imagine how lucky I feel. I'll get some pictures posted soon.

I just tried the 2182 out by mowing my yard. The Kubota engine is so smooth compared to Kohler twins. I'm a little concerned with the hydrostat, it seems to be "lazy" especially in reverse. I intend to change fluid and filter and hope this will help.
Any thoughts and advice appreciated.
I know Sam Mac really likes the 2182 Cyclops tractors. I know why now!

Default Pictures of the 2182

Here are some pictures of the 2182. It needs a good cleaning, but overall it's pretty clean. The plastic is in a lot better shape than the other Cyclops tractors that I have.
Mechanically it needs some things. The starter often clicks several times before engaging. The amp light is on, I'm not sure if it's charging. It has an exhaust manifold stud broken. And the hydrostat seems very slow and sluggish, especially in reverse.
I'm really happy with the 2182, I had to travel all of 3 miles to pick it up!

Even has front hyd. ports. Don't know what you paid but it has all the toys. I had to drive to St. Louis from Galax VA to get my 2182, you suck.

X2! except for the traveling part. Fluid, filter, lube linkage, check trunnion spring/washers, and front axle mounts! My Super was delivered to where I work but didn't have any toys (just another 50c and wore out Magnum)

YUP.....that is the first place to start. As a suggestion, make sure you have the correct filter and fluids. In addition, I would pull the rear cover and do an extensive internal cleaning.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
