Did they ever make a Cub that was LP Gas fired? Does anyone know if there is a kit for the K301 series? I know it's an odd question but I have a big job coming up and my 127 would be perfect for moving chips and materials from machine to loading dock.
Only catch is I'm indoors in a machine shop. I can move stuff with the forklift but the Cub would be a lot easier to move around. I need to be able to haul 500-800 LBS of metal chips from the machine to the loading dock to dispose of them and my trailer is the perfect height for loading them out from the machine vs. throwing them up into a dumpster them moving the whole thing around the plant to the dock. The cub will scoot through the isles with ease and look a lot cooler! Terry |

Now there's a topic for discussion! How to convert a Cub to propane! No doubt it can be done. Wonder how many hours you could get out of a BBQ size tank.

I've got a LPG ONAN powered welder generator and have yet to have it run out of fuel, I've run it welding for 8+ hours straight on a forklift sized tank (32lbs?) and still had plenty left at the end of the day. I'm thinking a single cyl. engine should go 14-14 hours on a grill tank with no problem. I guess I need to find out what it needs for a regulator and give it a shot!

Open up your service manual...it discusses the LP carb and regulator...

I just flipped through my manual and this one has no mention of the LP carb or regulator. Any chance you can post what you have?
Thanks Terry |

My K-series service manual has several pages towards the back dedicated to LP systems. Mine is an older hard-copy, probably from the 80's or so.
Page 6.23 through 6.26 of the most current K-series service manual from Kohler's website discuss LP fuel systems. My older manual has a lot more info in it, but what's in the PDF manual should get you started. |

The Kohler stuff helped, unfortunately all the components are NLA. The good news is I found propanecarbs.com they offer 3 different styles of kits.1 LP only, and 2 LP or gasoline. I'm going to give them a call today and see what they say! Thanks for the help and I will update when I have more info.

TBell, A friend bought a generator with a propane conversion kit for Y2K. Rather than destroy the carburetor, I built a spacer the same shape as the intake gasket and about an inch thick. I drilled a port for the gas connection and one for the regulator vacuum port. It took an extra gasket and a home made governor link to install it. The thing ran fine and you could turn off the propane and switch to gasoline whenever you wanted to. Just food for thought if you are inclined to make things.

One of the kits I'm looking at has exactly what you describe, I've just been up to my ears in work and haven't gotten to the phone yet.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
