Picked up a 1810 with a bad engine today. Got several good parts. Nice 50" deck with new center double pulley, new muffler, 4 rear tires, 1 new front tire, new blades on deck. Check out the PO mods. I am not sure what the smoke stack in the air intake is used for. Maybe to pour gas in if it will not start???

Nice find! I had a 682 a while back with the same exact stinking fuel pump on it. I do believe I still have it sitting on a shelf somewhere as that thing got replaced as soon as I could!

looks like that "stack" is a homemade ether injection port. so you don't have to take the air cleaner off every time. must be a hard starter magnum.

Yes there is grass under the filter. The engine he said still will turn over, I have not had a chance to see what is wrong. My first guess is governor gear, because there is no window in the block.

I found the problem with the engine. From the driver view, left side rod is broken. The valves do not move when the engine rotates. The cylinder bore looks great. I wander if it is worth tearing down and seeing if could be fixed?
