In my community the dump ground composts all the grass clippings/leaves they pick up and then offer it back to the community at 2000lbs per resident. It looks like black dirt when it becomes available. My question would be is this safe to till into the garden or would I run the risk of introducing diseases and weed seeds to my garden?

So you are full of it then?!?!
Sorry, couldn't resist!!! I will have to give it a try. I have a 75 x 150 garden so obviously 1 ton isn't going to do it but its a start I guess. I just didn't want to introduce weeds and bad things into the soil. Last year was the first year for the garden and it was amazing, so figured I would try and keep it that way.

Bad stuff?? My mulch was all storm downed chipped wood, not much to worry about. 1 ton?? The majority of what I hauled went on a 40X100 garden, ![]() It has darkened my soil. I dislike tilling and plowing, I do not want to disturb the soil, but, I got a new to me tiller this year. I had to play. The dark area was tilled Saturday; ![]() The new to me cultivator; ![]() The belt never slipped!! ![]() (No belts!! )

Not me, as much as my garden!!
![]() ![]() We could not consume 10% of what the garden produces,,,,, but, we mostly do it for fun. The neighbors "visit" a lot in the summer,,,,,,,,,,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
