Default CC 1320 hydro trans problem

Hi, I hope Im posting in the right area. I have a cc 1320, the other day i was riding it back to the shed when a high screech sound came out of no where and a hard jerk caused the engine to die. This happened extremely fast. Probably 1 second until the engine died. The engine wouldn't start, it felt like something was holding it. I took off the drive belt that connects from the engine to the tranny and the engine starts. So the engine is fine. The pully wheel on the tranny will not move, its rock solid. I assume the tranny is locked up. But the weird thing is that i can still roll the mower. when i engage the hydro dump valve, i can roll the mower and the rear wheels move just fine. Do u guys have any suggests. DO u think the tranny is gone or can something we done to fix it and allow that pully to move freely? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the tranny is probably done if you can't turn the input shaft.

I have a 1320 with a bad engine. I think the hydro is good. Well, if not good, at least it wasn't the reason the tractor was parked.

I once owned a 1420 and if I recall it had the same rear in it. I had a similar problem. My difficulty was on the gear side of the tranny. One of the gears, I believe it was the differential gear had 4 bolts through it and those bolts would work loose and fall into the gears locking everything up and breaking gear teeth in the process. I had tried loctite which did not work. As a last resort I spot welded those bolt heads and even that broke and I was rid of that machine. The dealer said that tranny was a poorly engineered rear and was just junk.

Here we go again with the trans troubles.
When one of mine went it just freewheeled, the other locked up tight. So in either instance it's most likely toast.
You could pull it apart and look for the problem. I didn't even check mine to see what was wrong, I just replaced the trans. (I had extras) But don't even think about buying a new one, crazy price and not worth it.

Thanks alot for all ur input. After loads of researcher, and reading ur replies, I think my options are to some how find another tranny (i cant seem to find any in southwest Missouri) or open it up & see why the input shaft wont spin. I'm curious, do u guys know if there is a way to make the back wheels turn without the tranny. The engine is good and the mowing deck all works, so if i can hook the drive belt up to some other kind of axle, then I would at least be able to move forward but not reverse.

What?
Are you asking if you can "by-pass" the hydro? If so..... NO. Can you put a different trans in (non stock original)........ maybe.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
