Default A Realistic Price

Last night on ebay a NF hydraulic lift complete with rockshaft sold for $263. It was good to see one sell for less then $400 which is what the last few have gone for. There are to many collectors out there willing to pay the over inflated prices because they want it and they want it now. I guess we all would do it if we had the funds. Value is determined by how bad you want/need it. I can't imagine what that $400 price would be if the economy was in better shape. Sorry, I'm done.

I dunno about the rest of you guys but personally I have stopped all the impulse buying I used to do. THe last year proved to me I can't depend on a regular income any more and unfortunately that means the toys get put away for a while.

While I still succumb to the temptation once in a while if I happen on a good deal on parts for a tractor I already have, I don't even look at Ebay any more. I do old 2A jeeps as well, same thing there, and lots of jeeps are on the market for seriously reduced prices.

Of course the US Pickers show is still out there acting like prices are still where they were a few years back, but they will learn too.

I'm with ya. I need a creeper, and a hydro or electric lift for my 124. I'm bidding on creeper on ebay.....bidding started at $76.....I thought it was a good price.....seems the reserve is like 5 times that!!!
Give me a break! I paid $300 for the tractor. With the going prices, a creeper, and a lift will cost double to triple that!
But, I can find a used cub with both for $300-$600, but with shipping, I'm looking at close to $1000.
It's just not worth it.
As far as the lift, I'd like factory correct, but from what I gather, even rebuilt, they don't hold for long, so I'm buying an actuator and going the electric route.
I rarely "Fun" spend, I buy what makes work quicker, and easier.....efficiency is all important. "Time is money, money is time".
But if it costs this much to make it more efficient, I'll just keep my arm, and left leg in good shape.
And the people buying tractors, tearing apart, and living on selling the parts, are only driveing prices up, and making complete units harder to find.
Get a real job and stop ruining the hobby for the rest of us.

I don't fully agree with you eastonct124. When you are buying on E-bay, you are paying one of the highest prices in the world as you compete against other bidders from all over. I know at least two guys who part some of these older cubs out AND DON'T SELL ON E-BAY and they sell me parts cheaper than I can bid on them and pay the shipping. One of the guys does work 12 hr. days and the other one has tried but cannot find work at his age, so he is able to sell some parts here and there and provide for his family. The prices have gone up and some are for ridiculous amounts, but if people want it then the will pay the prices and if they don't, then they will come down in price and adjust to supply & demand. I have lost several times on a 123 dash because I wasn't willing to pay the price that others wanted to pay, but I just say that it wasn't meant to be and go on. I have resolved to fix the one that I have (just needs a spot welded) and probably sell my 122 dash that I had planned on converting......since one went for over $73 on E-bay last week!!!!

If I can get $400 for my hydraulic lift on my 123, I'll take it off. But, seriously, I actually thought about selling it, but I was really thinking $200-$250. Or trading it for a mechanical lift and helper spring outright. But I can also live with it as it does work good. But off it comes if I can get $400 for it.:biggrin2.gif:

I know, I'm just angry at the going prices. I withdrew my bid for the creeper. I was the highest ($83, w/$140 max)....but I didn't hit reserve, so I upped my max to see what it was.....when I hit $150, the ebay scum, then said "Reserve met", and took my hidden max of $150, and put it on as going bid!!!
So, I'm looking at a cub with a creeper for half that.....but I know the shipping will bring it back up to $300 or more....if he'll even ship it for me.
I just can't win.
And to think I was annoyed of the asking price of a untouched 36' Buggatti, that a customer was interested in, in france.

As far as parting out cubs, I'm just disgusted, because there are two cubs, a 125, and a 124 on ebay.....both were loaded cubs.....hydrolift, creeper, spring assist...you name it. Each person has three pages of parts......look it over, it's a complete machine (yes, even all the bolts in a bag).
So they both tore a complete, loaded, running machine apart, to sell the parts.
That's just sad. Some people have no respect, and no conscience.
What will they do when there are no more cubs to do this to?.....They'll move on to something else to rape and pillage.

Do I dare bring up wheel weights? I would like 2-3 sets, but not for 300+..

It is a bit crazy, but we are not the only ones that may be tight on money, and looking for ways to make some. It drives me up a wall too seeing good cubs get ripped apart. But do you blame a person in need of money (maybe to save his house) that decides instead of getting a couple of hundred for a tractor or possibly being able 7-800 for parting it out? Sadly this economy works both ways to a point. I've been watching the hydro lifts for both NF and a 82 series also, and everytime I want to jump on one, it skyrockets in the last 5 seconds, or they are trashed.

I am in no way sticking up for anyone or looking to start a great debate, I guess it's just a sign of the times.

Well, after starting this rant thread this morning I logged on to C list about 2 hours later and found a set of wheel weights off a CC for $20. They are not IH weights but they are 60#'s each and will go nicely on the 129 w/loader so I can put the weight on the wheels and take some out of the weight box for less strain on the axles. If I remember right I think it was Matt G. that said a couple of months ago, "Don't be in such a big hurry, eventually what you are looking for will come along at the right price". Well I guess he was right because there was no way I was going to pay $100+ for a couple of hunks of steel, so I had even stopped looking and just piled more junk in the weight box. Oh Well ..... Go Figure.

Anyone out in the midwest want a laugh? Check CL, Ct/ffld county, and CT/NW.
Put in Cub Cadet under search.....granted there is a 682 that is imaculate for $500, which is a great deal, but I'm a NF guy, so check out the prices of what's out here.
It's sobering to say the least.
On top of the the prices for anything west of PA, you must add shipping.....I bought my 1A from Iowa, and shipping was $150.....so it's about $2 per pound.
you do the math.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
