Default Using Napa replacement Kohler parts?

Anyone on here have anything they can tell me about Napa replacement parts for a K-301? I normally only use genuine Kohler parts, but I have been thinking about trying Napa's line of parts. I'm interested in a piston and rings, rod and valves. I've always wondered if they would be inferior to genuine Kohler, but I can get them for about 1/2 the price of Kohler parts.

I'm about to start on my 3rd engine rebuild using NAPA Stuff.
Its a 12 HP from the 126. Matter of fact, they just called this AM and said it was ready to pick up
The other 2 were a 12 and a 14 from my QL's.
So far so good.

I've been using NAPA parts for several years with no problems. My 100 has a rebuild engine kit from NAPA in it. Anyone at a plow day knows I will pull RPMs down from 3800 rpm to 2800-2900 rpm and run that way all day long.

I buy so many parts there that my NAPA dealer has started giving me a small engine parts book when each updated book comes out.

Last set of head gaskets I bought for a Mag18 from NAPA were Kohler parts and about 1/2 the price of the local "authorized" Kohler dealers.

My local NAPA offers both genuine Kohler parts and private label NAPA Small Engine Parts. I've never had a failure with either brand.

darryljs,

Outstanding list.

Take these numbers and head to Tulsa Engine Warehouse:

http://tewarehouse.com/Catalog

Plug any part number you can into the search. Great folks and some of the cheapest prices I've found online.

As always, support your local businesses or the sponsors here if price + shipping is close.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
