Default Disappointment at the gas station

So we've been very lucky so far this winter, it hasn't been to cold and my electric heaters have kept the house toasty. This week were supposed to have some pretty rough weather with temps dropping below zero so I figured I better get some kerosene for the furnace just in case it gets to cold for the electric heaters to keep up. I went last night to fill up 2 5 gallon cans and was shocked to see that kero was still 3.99 a gallon, I didn't expect it to be as cheap as gas but I sure didn't expect it to be the same price its been for the last couple years. Gas has came down about 1.40 in my area and it just seems like highway robbery that kero hasn't even come down at all. Rant over

I'm thinking of running diesel in my torpedo heater. Even with the road tax it's cheaper than kero.

I feel your pain, too. I just bought some ethanol free gasoline for my cubbies and it was 3.99/gal. Guess not everything fuel related decreases with reduced crude prices.

Gas has dropped here too, but Diesel hasn't budged and Kero is the same price as past few years too. Same everywhere. Just not right.

The reason diesel and kerosene are still higher(diesel is $2.74 here) is the epa. Both diesel and kerosene have more oil and sulfur that has to be removed by law now vs: back in 2002.

3.99 a gal would be good for me, as the price here is 4.60 a gal and has been for a year. I just ordered 200 gals of # 2 heating oil @2.50 a gal. I got to thinking if is good enough for my fuel oil furnance in my shop, why can I not use it my salmader?

Default Diesel

I use diesel in the torpedo and the kerosene wick heater in the shop. Doesn't smoke and doesn't smell too bad.

No, diesel is more because it just is. They can get away with it. Cost to produce hasn't changed that much. All the equipment that was put in place has long since been paid for, and is now just up and running. We have a refinery here. My dad has worked there for around 25 years. Diesel if free with the production of gasoline. (As with all distillate fuels.) Even if they have to further "refine" it, it didn't cost anything to make to begin with. Distillate fuels should always be cheaper than gasoline. Gasoline is what is harder to pull from crude.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
