I'm considering buying a super, I'm wondering how well the hydro will handle a moldboard plow. I'm pretty sure it's a 2182 with a 3 cylinder Kubota in it. I plow somewhere around 4 acres every year for deer plots. Any advice?

Cub123 AKA Ben has 2 1782's with plows, he would be a good one to ask. Plenty of the guys here use Supers to plow with.

I think you would be fine, I run mine all day at plow day and I've had zero issues. Here's a quick video of the 1782 pulling a 12" brinly. ( just click on the pic)

Thanks for the input guys but it has already sold. Don't see many supers for sale here in Oklahoma & they don't stay for sale long.
On a brighter note, I've already done some plowing with the 122 this spring. I have to agree that there's nothing like the smell of freshly turned dirt!!! |

Best thing you can do is plow with someone else's hydro before you buy one. I have plowed with several supers and hydro Cub Cadets. They are slower responding (lift-constant speed) once the hydro warms up. You will not be able to set the direction lever in one spot and keep the same speed.
I will take a manual trans Cub Cadet any day when it comes to moldboard plowing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
