Default Will my 60" Haban from my 2182 work on a 1782?
Hello. I have an early serial number 2182 and I may be getting a late serial number 1782. My question is will my 60" Haban work properly with the newer 1782. I would assume the 1782 would have the larger pulley on the front Pto. Is that correct? Is it doable or will I have to get new pulleys? My 2182 has a 5" Pto pulley and my Haban has a 6" pulley. I'm assumeing everything else would just bolt right up? Thanks for any help and advice.

Worst case, you may need to change the pulley on the deck. Easy job. BTDT.

I just installed new bearings the other day so my pullys come off real easy now. I used your sugestion for the source of my bearings, thank you! With the 6" pulley on the engine and 6" on the deck I assume it is going to slow down the blades tip speed compared to the 5" and 6" I have now? Off hand do you know what they come with from the factory? If I need to swap to the smaller pully on the deck, what size will I have to be looking for? Do you know of a source for one? Thank you for your help.

Actually, if you currently have a 5" pulley on the PTO and you go to a 6" PTO pulley, the blade speed will increase because every revolution of the PTO pulley run a longer section of the belt over the deck pulley. Basically you go from a 5:6 ration to a 6:6 or 1:1 ratio.

Ok that makes sense. That being said I should be at an advantage with a bigger Pto pully with a higher blade tip speed, as long as the belt and deck bearings can handle it.

You'll find that the engine has a harder time getting the blades spinning when you engage the PTO. It's like trying to start in a higher gear.

This is the pulley for a late 1782 with the 60" deck. 756-3057 Pulley, Center.
