Default Paint colors?

Hello J-Mech,

I saw in a post the other day, you said something about the wheels and the rest of the white on someone's tractor were not supposed to be the same color. Could you clarify this for me? I know there were the 3 whites used over the years, but I would assume , yes I know better, but I would assume the wheels would be the same as the tractor of each given era. Thanks in advance,

Default verify ppg codes.

Hello all, I am looking for someone to verify the color match of ppg 90592 to IH 902. I had this paint mixed in Omni, Now I don't know if it was mixed wrong or if the number is no good. In the photo, you see a deck hanger painted with 90592PPG, The darker strip behind it is where I removed the decal on the 125. As you can see there is a big difference. Anyone used 90592 and gotten a good match?

I have never gotten a straight answer on this. All machines I have owned, the wheels and attachments were a different color than the hood. They were IH cream white, whereas the hoods were pure white. I can't answer the question with any certainty. I think that the hoods were the 901 white and not the 902.

All I can do is point you to this chart:
http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19

According to the part numbers, the 3 shades of white are different. It appears that from CCC or IH, the 935 is all that is available. But, as you can see they do cross to different paint codes in the other colors. So...... your call.

I can't explain the difference between the color on your 125 and the PPG "902" you had mixed up, but my 126 which is in original 902 white is MUCH whiter than all of my other tractors that have the 935 white. It also looks like pure white. My 126 has been garage kept it's entire life, so I don't think it has faded too much. But then again, it's been 45 year! :-)

Where did you get the PPG mixed up? I tried once to get this color mixed up in PPG Omi and it came out gray. The paint shop swore they mixed it up correctly and the paint code was supposed to be gray. I think they messed up and didn't want to correct their mistake.

IH had some pretty clear formula's for their white paint for their tractors. The mystery that I have found, that the white they used for their implements isn't as clear. I have never found, that IH definitively used one of the three whites as their implement shade of white, or haven't published that information.

Most people that restore implement(s), simply choose the shade of white that they want or have.

Default Interesting information

Hello All, Happy 4th of July,

I may have stumbled on a solution to my color match question. The 902 white shown on the paint chart here is listed as 90592 for PPG. On another IH cub site I found a chart that lists the 902 White as 92592. Now I will have to see if I can find a PPG chart or have some mixed in the 92592 and see if that matches the original color a little closer.

90592 is what I've seen.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
