Default PTO stopped working - Cadet 2130 Kohler 12.5S

I am new to Cadets and Kohlers but good mechanically. Mowed my neighbors lawn and ran over a very large bag in the hidden weeds. It totally stopped the blades... removed the rubble, all is free and turning by hand.

Now PTO will not turn on blades. Found a burned up ground wire (GRN). It's the one that runs between ignition module and the chassis mounted voltage indicator. I replaced it with a new wire after replacing the PTO clutch with no change. Checked a 20 amp fuse to be good, but couldn't find the other??? I suspect it's part of the 20 amp relay???

Is the ignition module (key switch) or voltage indicator bad or something else???

Please help - my grass is getting tall!

First, welcome to OCC..........

To answer your question, the 2130 has three (3) different Wiring Diagrams. It depends on the Serial Number range. What is your Chassis Serial Number...?

Your series is the early one (1994-1995).

There is a Green Wire coming off the Negative ( - ) battery terminal. In that green wire lead, is a Fuse Holder with a 20A fuse, that feeds the Grounding Circuit for the PTO Clutch. I would check that.

I did already check it but only visually, I will do a continuity test and report back very shortly... at the same time I will examine the wire more closely.

Thanks

Bear in mind........there are two (2) 20A Fuses on this tractor. One for the Electrical System and one for the PTO.

Fuse is good along with the attached wiring to the battery. I also probed the fuse socket and resulted in continuity, is that good or bad?

Here is a diagram of the PTO Circuit I drew up a while back. If you have questions......ask away.

I appreciate your diagram but unfortunately, I'm only a self taught electrician. I know a little about testing circuits with a meter but it doesn't take much smarts for that

I've managed to test the seat and brake circuit just by trial and error or physical testing. I need to start it and rev it up for a rev test.

If this were me.......I would be looking for a grounding issue associated with the GREEN wire.

Do you have a DVM or a VOM and know how to use it...???

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
