Default Why 1641?

We have eight garden tractors in The Barn.

All are in good condition, all work. Allis-Chalmers, Pennsylvania Panzer, Wheel Horses, Simplicity, and the '95 CCC 1641.

Why then has the latest addition, our Cub, become our go-to favorite worker?

I do know why grandsons go-Cubbie. They love the hydro, the Cub is our only hydro.

The Cub we used when "new" to us last winter, plowed snow. Excellent!
The Cub we're using every other day, 48" SD deck, mowin' the lawns. Wonderful! (Mowing overkill but, the boys 'll be boys!)

Our first tractor, for Kinzers, PA, was a '32 Farmall. Just for the boys to ride in the tractor parades.

The forum members made the ride possible. Thanks for the continued help. Always.

It's the hydro trans. I bought my first hydro (Green 111H) in 1994 and haven't wanted to use a gear drive since. I slightly prefer foot operated but not by a lot.

Never had a hydro, like it.

Is there an after market foot accelerator pedal assembly available?

You're not alone. It wouldn't surprise me if the 1641 tractors were the most popular model made by CCC. Certainly around here, there's way more of them in use than any other model.

In the manual steering models, they steer much easier than the Kohler Mag tractors because the engine is lighter. The 48"/54" deck cuts great and of course, the hydro is a plus.

Now, if you want to spoil yourself and the grandkids, find an abandoned 1864 with the P/S on it. To me, that is the one and only cut above the 1641 in the CCC GT line. Supers are good but they aren't as nimble and maneuverable cutting grass.

Thanks Mike McKown!

That was my feeling exactly. We really like the 1641.

We found it, bought it, bad shape, a grandson project. He "needed" it!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
