I'd say probably. As Roland posted with the spec # he could say yes or no. That said if the shaft size and length are the same I'd guess you will probably need to swap some of the accessories from your old engine to the new engine to make it play.

It could be 24696. I'm also looking at a picture of this engine that I'm sharing with you guys so I'm not 100% on the spec# but that's what I see.

This is simply an observation, but the air cleaner housing looks like the ones on Magnum powered gravelys. I'm only familiar with the Cubs using the regular old circular filters

Not sure about a super but my 1862 had that air cleaner on it when I bought it and it rubbed the firewall. It had a non-original engine in it so I had to get an air cleaner from a cub to fit correctly.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you had the engine already.
![]() The 24646 IS a Cub Cadet specified engine. With the exception of that Air Cleaner, it should drop into a Cub Cadet without much problem(s). The 24696 was made for Melroe/Bobcat. The area of concern is the "crankshaft" in order for the Elec PTO to mount and operate correctly. Here is the data on these engines. 24646 has crankshaft 52-014-66S = 1.125" x 2.80" 24696 has crankshaft 52-014-65S = 1.125" x 2.58" (thus being about 1/4" shorter than the Cub Cadet crankshaft)

Well my dad and I told the guy we would take it. The motor is new still in the Kohler box. I thought for a little under $1,000 it would be worth it. Hopefully it works out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
