Default Cub 127 dead battery

Have used this cub 127 in the last week 4 times and it started up fine. Today went to start and nothing. Battery was dead. Jump started it and it fired right up. Just mowed for 2 hours and it was fine. The voltage guage had the needle on the O spot the whole time. Is this right? After mowing i shut it off and it wouldn't start again. Voltmeter had the battery at 9 volts. The battery is new and is on the charger right now. Any ideas? Voltage regulator? Idk, it started fine yesterday. Thanks.

With the engine at full throttle (3600 RPM's) take a DVM or VOM and measure across the battery terminals. Normal is in the 14.5 VDC range. What do you have..???

It's not charging if it indeed is wired correctly with a working ammeter. Ground the "F" terminal briefly and read battery volts with a DVOM while running. Should reach 14 to 16 volts full throttle This will indicate tht you're generator is ok. After that you can inspect wiring and make sure all is wired correctly. The v/r's are adjustable but making sure wiring and proper ground connections plus generator operation has to happen

Grounded the f terminal with the neg battery post briefly and the ammeter didn't move at all. I'll break out the voltmeter tomorrow night and get some readings.

Is that with the F terminal grounded out...??? If so, you have S/G problems. It needs to go into the shop for analysis.

X2. It should be at least 13 IMO. When mine runs it's around 14.

Might look inside the starter/Gen, could be something simple like worn brushes,
they come apart easy.
Also makes me wonder as you say the battery was "dead" thinking maybe the cutout part of regulator stuck closed, and drained the battery totally dead.
-------or the key was left on

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
