I was wondering if anyone else has issues with mower belt slipping under a medium load? I am getting ready for leaf mulching and have had problems in the past with belt slipping/ squealing.
I just installed a new drive belt and it still slips. (at least this is the belt I'm guessing is the culprit) Here is a pic of the pulley in question.(top pulley)... To me it looks like the belt sets very low in the driven pulley. Notice how the lower belt (blade belt) sets high in the sheaves.... Would a new pulley fix this? What about wider belt? Thoughts? . |

The deck looks like a 44C/50C deck. IF...that is the case, that belt is too small as far as width. You need a 5/8" wide belt.

The deck is a 50", Manual cover shows model #359, but dad had written in by hand model 50A?
I got the replacement belt at NAPA. Gave them the Cub #954-3006 to cross reference. They gave me a Bladerunner 6714BR. Just googled that belts specs and it shows 1/2" wide by 93.25" length. Guess trade in time at NAPA! Thanks for the help! |

190-359-100 IS a 50C mower deck and requires a 5/8" wide belt.
The correct belt is: 954-3006 BELT-V, 21/32 X 93

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
