Default So when will your winter prep start and what do you have to do?

As the title suggests, when will you start your winter Cub prep and what do you have to do?

I have to get my 1864 ready. Still have to fabric the fenders and inside of the cab, change engine and trans oil and filter, get the blade on, make some adjustments to my lift rod, touch up a few paint spots on the frame, install an oil pressure gauge, and add some running lights to the cab. Oh yeah, and put the cab on. After that, I should be good to go

The blade could use some paint as well but I don't think that'll happen this year. Also, my lift cylinder I believe has a leak but again, that won't get fixed this year as I don't believe they make a rebuild kit for it and I don't have a spare to swap in. Next year the plan is to pull the engine and give her a good servicing but she'll have to make it through this winter first (which won't be a problem ).

I have to get the engine in the 1811 back together and put the plow on, I keep a set of turfs on rims that are loaded and have chains on them so all I have to do is bolt them on. I'm gonna plow with it this winter to work out any bugs it may have before a spring paint job.

Oh gee, thanks for reminding me! Still have to tube and load a new set of turfs and get chains on them. The list keeps growing!

lmao what can I say, I love seat time! I don't mind the snow so much, it gives me an excuse to do some work with the Cubs. Plus I use my snow pusher Cub for snow removal at work so basically I will get paid to play on the Cub and if I come in after hours I get to take time off work for the extra hours. Double score for this guy!

Last weekend I got the deck off of the 1572, cleaned the tractor, changed the oil and filters and got everything greased.

Now I need to mount the cab and 450 blower. I also need to swap the ag's for the loaded turfs with chains and bolt on my weights.

Some improvements for this year will be some better lights on top of the cab. I'm also going to build a weight box that will slide into the 2" receiver I have on the back of the tractor. I only time last year I wished I had more weight was backing uphill with the blower up.

Got to take the deck and the 10.5 turfs off the 149 and put on the 8.5s with chains. My extra weight is always with me so no worries there.

I'm ready.
The green 140 H3 with the 54" full hydraulic blade is ready. If it fails for some reason I'll fall back on my totally manual Sears GTV16 that I've been using for the past 30 years. Both are ready to go.

No big deal for me. Put the chains and plow on and I'm ready to go. Takes me about 30 mins to do it. Hope to mow a couple more times before we get to the snow setup. Snow sucks.

Mowing is all but done here. I'm moving more leaves than I am cutting the grass under neath.

I added a rubber strip to the bottom of my snow blade so it'll get right down to the driveway. I have to mount weights, a rear light, change oil (to a lighter weight) and fart around with chains. One of them last year was not tight enough.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
