Default 1862 to 1863 steering swap
I have a 1862 parts tractor that as you know has the power steering. Would the power steering from this work on my 1863? What all would need to be done to do the swap?

I did the PS swap from an 1864 to a 1641 so it's the same deal.

I used the Sunstrand hydro/differential, PS lines and lower steering column from the 1864. It's a simple bolt in. I don't think I forgot anything.

You'll like the Sunstrand better than the Hydro-Gear. The Sunstrand is smoother and takes less effort to change ground speeds at at the handle.

The Hydrogear is considered to be a cheaper hydro unit. The Sunstrand unit has been in Cubs since the first Cub hydro and is about as tried and true bulletproof as you can get. The Hydrogear is a cheaper somewhat weaker unit. That's about as technical as I can get with the differences

If you pull the fenders on the two tractors you have, you can readily see the external difference.

Using the Sunstrand lets you use the standard production hydraulic lines instead of having to custom make them.

I've been told the Hydro Gear won't support PS but I don't know that.
