Some less fortunate kids had to drive the green ones to school. That is sad....

FFA has been doing this since at least the 70's. My dad did it in high school, so did I. I'm not so sure granddad didn't. Not really new. Still cool. In my area, it's really sad. Not many farm kids left. Most borrow from their neighbor, or the same farm has like 4 or 5 of the tractors that are there, just different kids drive them in.

My High School did this when I started going to high school about 14 or 15 years ago but by the time I got out of high school, this day was no more

The FFA at the school I teach at just had theirs on Monday. Only one of the 12 tractors was cab-less and older than the 1990's and it was a JD B. The farm I grew up on had a 966 w/o a cab as our newest/main tractor until 10 years ago so that seems odd to me. I didn't drive in the parade but I made sure to load up my cub and bring it in the back of my pickup that day. 30 degrees is a little cold to ride around town on a cub while wearing dress pants.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
