Default New owner of my first Cub.

It is a 102 that runs strong, is built like a tank and came with two snow blades, tire chains, and a bunch of other doodads.

I have found it a very useful tool so far.

I'm wrestling with getting the mower deck connected to the tractor. I need a mule pulley and the belt that runs from the deck from the tractor.

If anybody has any ideas where to look, I'd be much obliged if you steered me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Tom

Welcome to OCC and congratulations on the 102.

There isn't really anything that can't be rebuilt or repaired on these old Cubs, try the sponsors at the top of the page for parts.

Whoops! After further research, this contraption has to be a 100. It doesn't have any stickers indicating the model on the hood BUT it has curved fenders. The mower deck has the cast iron left side, right side, and center bearing areas.

The s/n is in the 161k range and the front tires are narrow.

I've washed and disassembled the mower deck because tomorrow it goes to the paint shop for primer and paint. I don't own a garage and there is surface rust on the deck. I'd like this fantastic tractor to last so I'm going to paint what I can to keep it from aging.

I own a Bolens G14 as well and there is no comparison between the two. This is one cool tractor!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
