Mic:

First, welcome to OCC.......

There are a few of your fellow Mates that are members here too.

The 1220 came in two editions, early & late. It depends on the Serial Number range. The 1220 has a Hydrostatic Transmission. As an educated guess, I am thinking the linkage is stuck and needs to be freed up.

You can click on this link.... Manuals

Type in 1220 for your model, and use "1" as the serial number. Then click on the "search" tab. It will bring up the Owners and Service Manuals for the 1220.

For Parts Lookup..........click on this link.... Parts

First select Cub Cadet as the Brand. Then type in 1220. Two options pop up, depending on your serial number. Select the one that fits. This is the whole parts breakdown for your tractor, along with all suitable attachments.

Cool thanks for the info, my tractor is probably the early one serial no starts with a 124.
The linkage below the transmission seems to be moving as i move the forward and reverse lever but the transmission doesn't want to go into neutral.
Thanks again Mic.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
