It started out as a light rattle about the last 2 or 3 times mowing. Now it is a full out vibration that shakes the whole tractor. The motor mounts were replaced a few years ago, and I've pulled the inspection covers off and can't see where anything is loose or out of adjustment.
It starts easy and does not smoke. I'm guessing it must be something internal in the motor, but I am not sure where to start. As it is now, I am not comfortable running the tractor anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Did you confirm all the engine mounting hardware is tight? The oil pan bolts like to loosen and fall out.

There are WAY too many things to check on a Quiet Line before assuming that something is wrong inside the engine.
I would start by (as mentioned) checking the oil pan bolts and motor mounts then the front pto (just because you're already there) then the drive line. If it's as bad as you say, it shouldn't be hard to find, but you're probably not gonna find it without getting your hands dirty.

Yosemite Sam, Are you suggesting that this could be the source of the vibration?

Does your 1450 have a clutch disconnect?

Quote:
Check your rag joints front and rear too. There is a self-centering bushing at either end of the driveshaft that could be the culprit too but not likely. Pull the tunnel cover and see if the driveshaft is spinning true. |

Not that one, basically the disconnect on a 1450 is adding a gear drive clutch to a hydro.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
