Default Power steering on 982
Thinking of putting power steering on the 982 to make it easier for this old fart. With the 450 blower on the front she is a bit stiff. I greased everything up good and it's still stiff.
So, what parts do I need to do this update?? Is there a list somewhere showing what is needed? Hopefully I can just make up the hoses at local shop.
Anyone have any feedback on one they have updated, was it worth it?

Mike, I definitely think it would be worth it. Has to be a night and day difference.

I had my 982 in the shop sharpening blades tonight, it takes 2 hands to turn it all the way if you are going slow and turning fast. I actually did a ball bearing up grade to the steering gearbox---same idea as for the rest of the manual steers but the box is different and requires a larger bearing and nut--also some grinding on the frame was required. In all honesty I don't think it helped much. What about changing front tires? I've heard folks mention different tread styles help with steering, but I don't know what you need for working in snow. Unless you work fast, a power steering upgrade may take longer than you have left before the first snow.

Very good point on the tires. Don't know if they make tri-ribs big enough for the 982's? I can't swap them off the 782 because if I remember correctly the shaft size is different for the rims? I know the truth-ribs slide in the snow some.

Mike, you could try the V61's on your 982. I had them on my 982 and 782 and they steered nicely.
