Steering spindle question
Hi, I have heard about 1 (or 3/4 possibly) in spindles and wondered what cub they are on, would they fit a 149? If it works, does it increase the max capasity of weight much?

You will find the 1" spindles on the 82 series on up, i would assume they will take more weight since the bearing is also bigger but how much i'm really not sure. If you're interested in some shoot me a pm.

I have 1" spindles on my 129. They came off of a late production 1650. You'll also need the wheels to go with them.

The Steering Spindles (knuckle) used on Cub Cadets breakdown as this:
* 3/4" used from S/N: 501 to 632501 (Mid Quietline Production) * 1" used from S/N: 632502 and greater

Ok, I now understand this. Could I just get a different wheel bearings, or would I have to get a different rim?

Clay,
if your using the unit for normal duties a 3/4" spindle will work fine. They went to the 1" for improved bearing life and thrower duty. A lot of those things are still working with factory bearings on 3/4 axles. if it were mine I'd leave it alone unless the axles are worn or bearings wallowed out in the wheels. Then look for the 1" setup. Now if a feller was ah gonna hang a loader on the thing, a 1" setup would be needed.

I can't agree more with the above! There is a Cub Cadet 1" front rim, and respected inner and outer rim bearing numbers listed in my 1450 adventure thread should you go this rout.
