Default XT1 LT50 PTO engagement kills engine
Good day to you all.

I am new to the forum and unfortunately already looking for advice.

I have an XT1 LT 50. bought it brand new for the 2016 season.

It ran great for the first season without any issues. I have taken it out for the 2017 season, cleaned and sharpened everything, installed new air filter, fuel filter and fuel pump trying to solve my issue.

I can drive it all day long without any problem but when I engage the pto it will run for about a minute then the engine will die as if i turned off the key.
I am thinking it might be the battery as I did not disconnect it for the winter. I have read that the PTO draws a lot of current.

I am hoping someone had and fixed this same issue and can give some solid advice before I go dumping more money into trouble shooting things that may not be causing the problem.

I would think the draw would shut down the PTO itself.... Once Started that engine will run without a battery....

Was it doing it before your did the exchange of the filters as stated in your first post??? Wasn't clear....

It was doing this before changing all filters and fuel pump. I thought it might have been a fuel issue. Even went as far to clean the fuel system and put it the super expensive 4 stroke tru fuel (no ethanol) $6 a gallon. Glad I bought only one gallon.

No difference.

When it cuts off, how long before it will crank back up? If there seems to be a long period of time(several minutes or more) I would have my tools handy and immediately check to see if you have lost spark. If you have spark, then I would think you have a fuel supply problem. Also, just as soon as the engine begins to die, pull the choke out about halfway and see if that helps it to run any longer---would indicate a fuel issue.

Thank you guys for he replies.

When it dies I can choke it and it will start right up again. If I don't choke it the engine just turns over and over until I do choke it.

The fuel filter stays full.

I noticed looking in cub parts catalogs that there is a fuel solenoid that attaches to the carb. I am not sure of it function but if it is supposed to supply more fuel under load and it is not that could be the issue.

Any idea what this solenoid is designed to do?

Fuel solenoid usually shuts the fuel off when the engine is stopped.
I'd call the dealer you bought it from, they will have a record of it's sale.

Also your checkbook or credit card should have a record of purchase.
Replacing parts at random is not diagnosing the problem.
Did you fill out a warranty card and send it in, or ??
