Default Feel kinda stupid.
Finally got all the work done on my neighbors cub, it's the POS with the courage engine I asked about in another thread. Any way, I got it done and decided I would mow with it for a few minutes just to make sure everything I had done to it was good to go. So I mow across the yard and then go to back up and the engine starts to die, of course I was like wtf? So I let off and it goes right back to being fine so I tried it again and once again it started to die. I started to think it was running low on gas but that wasn't the case. It took me almost a minute and a half to figure out that you can't mow in reverse with a new tractor. Stupid safety switches.

At least you didn't try to go with the bypass lever pulled on the rear and think oh crap the transmission is bad.

Now that has happened to more folks than there are that will own up to it. Same goes for trying to crank something with the fuel shutoff.

I've seen a few Craftsman mowers that had a bypass position on the key switch that will allow you to mow in reverse. Don't know how common of a feature this was/is.

Must be some newer Cubs have it too. Cause I drove one that did but don't remember the number. Prob 3xxxx I would guess

My 06 ? Yard machine has the 2 position switch 1st pos. Lets you mow backwards
Its twice as fast in rev. And doesnt slip so I use it a lot.

Great thing about the old ones, they don't care which direction I want to go ,pull the Johnson bar on the 109 and mow in reverse as well as forward !
