Guys, I searched hi and lo in my manuals and only found one instance where it said the Hydro Unit take 8 its of HyTran which seems way to much. I thought it was around 4 or 5 qts.
Can anyone verify the fluid amount with a new filter please? ![]()

It is going to be around 7 quarts. There is a lot of reading on here on what type to get so I will not go into that.

You make NO mention of the model of tractor you are working. Assuming you are working on a pre 1990 product, did you search here....??? http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?p=30471#post30471

Does anyone run a 'lighter' fluid in the winter months?

Just a FYI:
If you decide to go with an alternative, there is a "303" tractor hyd fluid that is a bit heavier and causes problems in winter in some equipment. Some report it takes forever to warm up. I tried it once and quickly changed to hyguard as I had some on hand. ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
