Default Broken Lift cylinder?

I have to assume this is why the 1914 doesn't have a whole lot of lift travel. It appears that the mounting hole on the cylinder has broken and completely elongated to the point that I can move the cylinder off of the mounting bolt by hand when there isn't pressure on the cylinder. By the looks of things, this has been broken for quite a while. Cub's website lists the cylinder at 275 bucks and the cylinder housing is NLA so a rebuild doesn't appear to be realistic. Anyone have any ideas to fix or modify this? The cylinder still works fine....Has anyone found a cheap replacement cylinder that works for this application if all else fails?

I may have found an option. One of the site sponsors have a lift cylinder from a 1782. Would this fit mine?

Either get that welded or find another...any 82 series through cyclops lift cylinder will work, 1782 included. They are very plentiful used.

Thanks guys. I will have to ask a couple of buddies that weld to see if they can hook me up with a fix. It might just be easier to pick up a used one for 60 bucks if it is going to cost 50 to fix this one.

By the way....at one point I ran across a post that someone put a spacer on the mower lift arm (the one that the cylinder pushes on) that would allow the lift to raise a little higher. I figure if I am going to be working in there, i might as well put that modification in at the same time. I have searched the last couple of days and cannot find that post. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

I need to make a half-dozen of these for all of my tractors. No dimensions are provided, so I think we're on our own. I bet I can put a grid on that drawing and get dimensions and make a drawing...

I may get to it soon...my 782D has to come apart partway to weld something that broke on the 3-point. Might as well add that thing and see why it steers so hard while I'm at it.

If you were to make some extras, I would be interested in a couple.

What decks are you guys using? I've got plenty of lift on both the 782 and super. Is it deck specific?

My 46GT could use more because that deck is really tall. Have you ever had a QL? The lift goes up so much further.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
