Default How would you do it

I have an original CCC grill emblem. One of the mounting studs is broken off the back. How would you repair it or replace the stud so it can be mounted.

Drill it out and epoxy a small stud, could be an option.

Is it thick enough to drill it out a tap a few threads into it?

Here are some pics. I have thought of these ideas but it is very thin about 1/8" on edges and half that in middle. Might have to make a separate backing plate.

I am still not sure if these belong on my supers. Other members have said their's had one others say no. Have seen pics both ways. Can't find on ant parts list.

I did mine by drilling a small hole through the emblem in the black part of the logo, then I used a small screw and nut and painted the head of the screw black so it blends in. Honestly, unless you know I did it you would never see it because it blends in so well.

Another possible option would be to drill a hole thru the emblem and press a flush mounting PEM stud in from the face side and then repaint the emblem. The drilled hole is specific to the stud thread size. McMaster Carr carries studs and if they don't have the size you want/need, S.W. Anderson does. That way if the emblem ever has to come off, you don't have to worry about repainting a screw head. PEM's are a permanent insert. We use them in our sheet metal manufacturing all the time. It's getting rare to see spec's that call out for weld studs and/or nuts anymore except for older design items that date back before the 70's or 80's.

The PEMS seem interesting but it seems like there are many types for different apts and materials not sure which to use. Also looks like you need proper tools to press in.
